First of all, YES! I like what Jon and the guys are doing in SF. They are defining rollerblading as a culture and a lifestyle, making us proud. And their new DVD was just that.
Having a professional motion graphic guy, a colorist and a man working at Adobe to edit the video. This was real professional work put into blading. Serious business right here. Who would've ever imagined. Rollerblading is blessed with a team of talent and they're the dedicated ones who claim themselves as "We Are Valo!!". Tommy Boy knows what's up too.
But with all the high anticipation build up around their promotion and the making of the video, I had mixed feelings after watching it. hmmm.....
つーことで、俺もWE ARE VALO 3 を見たっす＠SKBハウス。
正直、スゴ過ぎて、凹んだ。ガツンと重いのが、のしかかってきた感じ。
あれだけ、ホームページで写真や動画を公開してたのに、目玉の映像は全部、ビデオのためにとっておいたなんて。本当にやめて欲しい。インラインって、こんなにレベル高かったっけ？（涙）トゥルースピンにダークサイド、、、もうやめて欲しい。
制作チームも、モーショングラフィック・デザイナーから専門のカラーリスト、Adobeスタジオで働くビデオエディターまで、制作現場のプロで編成されていて、明らかに今までのビデオの域から飛び出したよね。
しかし、しかし、それを見た、SKBハウスに集まったオコチャマたちは、強がって思わず「つまらねー」とか「ツボを外してる」といった言葉を口にしちゃった訳ですよ。あー。
いやー、そこでこの俺も、フリオの悪口だけは聞き捨てならねーぞ、と。
正直、みんながビデオを見ながら違和感を感じたのはわかるし、なんかモヤモヤ感はあった。けどそれって、自分達に受け入れる器が無かったからじゃないかな。
それか目の前の「現実」を受け入れたくなかったか。つまり、キャパ越え。
それを単純に、「つまらない」という感想で片付けるのは、あまりにも乱暴すぎると思う。
と同時に、スケートビデオの目的や位置付けが多様化していく中、ここではっきり住み分けするのも大事なのではと。今の時代、一つの作品に全ての期待が一極集中するのも無理がある話しなのかなと考えさせられた。
とにかく、今回のVALOのビデオは見る側の意識が問われる作品だよ。
果たして君はついてこれるかな？、、、多分、わからないだろうね。

リーダーに触発されて俺も今年の夏のぶらり旅の写真を。
いや、YEAH、yeah〜。沖縄いいよ〜！
去年、リーダーが沖縄に行った時の写真を見せてもらって、いつか俺も行かねばと。
そして、今年遂に行ってきやした。
遠く遠くの南国の島だと思っていたけど、羽田で朝一の飛行機に乗れば１２時前には那覇空港に着いちゃうくらい実は近い。なのに、やっぱりそこは日本のようで日本じゃあない異国の地。
「だって、沖縄の吉野家はタコライスがメニューにあるんだぜ！」
ちゅらうみ水族館のジンベイザメに透き通った海の砂浜。
にぎやかな国際通りと錆びた看板の古い町並み。
「とりあえず、５万円あったらスケート買わずに沖縄へ行け！」

We just finished off our second "Horetaze" party in Kichijoji and right here is the pic of the flyer taken by kam.iokan.de
"Horetaze Rollerblade" is a series of events I have started with friends since the spring, when we had the Clip4 premiere. Always dreaming of the local skate shop or a skatepark to hold premieres and parties for us, we finally got off our asses and did it ourselves. Yeah that's right! D.I.O!!
But having a skate video premiere is just an excuse to hold a party in my opinion now.(btw, SayWord 3, I approve!) The main purpose of the event is to just have a place to have fun and meet friends off skates. Which I think everyone is forgetting nowadays.
So here you go, skate nerds in Tokyo taking charge in our own hands!
Thanks to everyone who came out and next time I hope you dance with me.
Hey next time you come to Japan, maybe YOU can catch a "Horetaze!"

This is the video from the Valo08 tour Paris stop, session at Ivry. Alex was hurt at the time so mainly Bailey shocked everyone through the whole session. Not to forget "The Julio" with his perfect full torque and soul grind on the wave ledge. Peep me in the video with the full torque. Yeah man! haha

Just getting ready for the skate video premiere party next week. Its not our video but its just another excuse to get together and have some fun. Its our second premiere following the one for Clip 4 held in Spring. My job is mainly making the flyers and any design output to go with the event. This time I'm trying out the retro printing machine. Its very cheap and prints on craft paper. The printer is in Osaka. That should say it all.
Looking to have some fun printing random stuff in the future!

Worship or Wear? "Aggressive" skates are meant to be worn and grinded.
Somethimes I like to get medieval on my wheels too. Not from a hard skate session, but because these wheels sucked sooooo bad. Soft, square and slow. KILL KILL KILL! Shame on you!Next time boy, pick a better wheel!
